Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based labor and delivery care to birthing patients and newborns
• Continuously assess and interpret fetal heart tracings to guide safe clinical decisions
• Perform precise IV insertions and expertly manage lines for fluids and medications
• Serve as the circulating RN in OBGYN/OR, coordinating the team to maximize patient safety
• Deliver couplet care to support mother and newborn during the immediate postpartum period
• Administer delivery medications per protocol and closely monitor patient responses
• Communicate clearly with interdisciplinary teams, patients, and families to promote positive outcomes
• Participate in unit-based quality initiatives and contribute to a strong culture of safety

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Missouri or eligibility via the Nurse Licensure Compact (required)
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) preferred or willingness to obtain
• Previous Labor and Delivery experience preferred; postpartum experience is a strong plus
• Demonstrated IV insertion and line management skills
• Comfort serving as circulator in OBGYN/OR or openness to gain that experience
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork abilities

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Electronic fetal monitoring with confident interpretation
• Proven IV insertion, line management, and obstetric medication administration
• Couplet care for mother and newborn in the immediate postpartum period
• Familiarity with OBGYN/OR circulation workflows and sterile technique
• Patient education for labor, delivery, and postpartum care
• Ability to work effectively in high-acuity, fast-paced environments
• Familiarity with common delivery medications and controlled substances
• Willingness to participate in unit quality and safety initiatives
