Roles & Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, prepare, sterilize and distribute surgical instruments and trays to the OR and hospital areas
• Assemble and process instrument sets and linen, prioritizing trays and tasks to support the surgery schedule
• Operate and troubleshoot steam sterilizers, following manufacturer and industry standards to ensure patient safety
• Disassemble, inspect, reassemble and test instrumentation to verify correct function before use
• Maintain accurate sterile processing records and ensure compliance with facility policies and safety protocols
• Identify equipment or process failures and take corrective action to prevent hazards and downtime
• Collaborate with OR and clinical teams to ensure timely instrument availability and smooth surgical flow

Qualifications

• CRCST certification required
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum 1 year of sterile processing experience
• Comfortable working night shifts and rotating weekends every 3rd week
• Willingness and ability to travel for this contract assignment
• Strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize under pressure, and good teamwork/communication skills
• Familiarity with sterilization equipment and infection control best practices

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) required

Knowledge & Skills

• Sterile processing and instrument reprocessing best practices
• Steam sterilizers operation and troubleshooting
• Decontamination procedures and infection prevention
• Surgical instrumentation identification and assembly
• Inventory control and supply management
• Ability to prioritize tasks to support the OR schedule and respond to urgent needs
