Roles & Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain a best-in-class Infection Prevention & Control Program aligned with CDC, OSHA, CMS, FDA, TJC, and APIC guidelines
• Lead surveillance, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of healthcare-associated infections and report to NHSN and regulatory agencies
• Create, update, and implement policies and procedures that translate regulatory requirements into practical workflows
• Design and deliver engaging infection prevention education and training for staff, patients, families, and communities
• Collect, trend, and maintain infection control data and prepare clear, actionable reports to inform leadership and drive improvement
• Serve as chair of the IPC committee and provide oversight for the Employee Health program
• Collaborate with public health partners and regional stakeholders to ensure timely communication and coordinated response
• Supervise staff as assigned and support program evaluation, performance improvement, and risk management activities
• Travel to remote SEARHC sites via jet, small plane, and ferry to assess, educate, and implement IPC best practices

Qualifications

• Current, full, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Alaska or another U.S. state; direct hires must have applied for Alaska licensure before start
• Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field (nursing, public health, epidemiology, microbiology, or similar) required
• Master's degree (MPH, MSN) preferred
• Certification in Infection Control and Prevention (CIC) required
• BLS current within 3 months of hire and maintained biannually
• Minimum 3 years of acute care and/or infection control, data collection, performance improvement, or risk management experience
• Clinical competency and manager competency to be completed within 3 months of hire and maintained per policy
• Supervisory or leadership experience preferred

Education

• Bachelor's degree in nursing, public health, epidemiology, microbiology, or related healthcare field required
• Master's degree in a healthcare-related field (MPH, MSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong working knowledge of epidemiology, infectious disease principles, and NHSN/HAI reporting
• Comfort with data analysis, basic statistics, and accurate, timely data entry and reporting
• Proficiency with MS Office and database applications
• Ability to synthesize regulatory guidance and evidence-based practices into practical policies and training
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including adapting messaging for diverse audiences and varying health literacy
• Project management and performance improvement skills to lead initiatives and evaluate outcomes
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams
