Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide engaging, evidence-based clinical education to long-term care staff across Sitka and Wrangell
- Partner with clinical leaders to standardize, implement, and evaluate clinical competency programs
- Design and select curriculum and training modalities tailored for adult learners and LTC settings
- Coordinate and support preceptorships and student clinical experiences with university partners
- Serve as a key member of the Clinical Nursing Education program and contribute to cross-consortium projects
- Use evidence-based research to improve professional development activities, nursing practice, and patient outcomes
- Ensure educational activities meet policy, accreditation, and SEARHC standards and the Seven Standards of Excellence
Qualifications
- BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) required
- Current, full, unrestricted RN license in Alaska or another U.S. state required (Direct hire must have applied for Alaska license before start date)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for providers required
- BLS Instructor certification preferred — or must obtain within 1 year of hire
- Clinical Competency completion required within 3 months of hire and maintained per policy
- Minimum 5 years professional nursing experience with at least 2 years in long-term care
- 2 years clinical instructor/educator experience (one year may be substituted with supervisory experience)
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs and travel ~30% (regional travel by plane/ferry)
Education
- BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing)
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in adult learning principles, curriculum development, and competency assessment
- Strong knowledge of geriatric care and long-term care nursing practices
- Skilled in evidence-based practice, policy compliance, and quality improvement
- Excellent oral and written communication and leadership abilities
- Familiarity with education delivery tools and platforms (TEAMS, Workday, Canva, Articulate, Smartsheet, SharePoint, PowerPoint)
- Ability to collaborate across teams and create positive, learner-centered training environments
