Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform initial triage and full assessments for patients of all ages, prioritizing care and patient flow
• Provide telephone triage and self-care guidance when appropriate
• Administer medications via multiple routes and manage IV therapy including initiation, maintenance, and discontinuation
• Document assessments, interventions and patient education accurately in the EMR
• Coordinate referrals and follow-up, tracking outcomes and communicating with providers
• Maintain infection control practices and a safe, well-stocked clinical environment
• Serve as vaccine coordinator or support vaccine coordination when assigned
• Respond to emergencies and perform life-saving procedures as needed
• Participate in department improvement efforts and ongoing clinical team development

Qualifications

• Current full, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska or another U.S. state (Agency staff must have an active Alaska license; direct hires must have applied for an Alaska license before start)
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and eligible to take the NCLEX
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in ambulatory or urgent care settings
• Completion of required clinical competency and high-risk competency assessments within organizational timelines

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required; eligible to take NCLEX)
• High school diploma or equivalent (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Triage and patient assessment with strong clinical judgment
• Medication administration including IV push and infusion
• IV insertion, maintenance and secondary IV therapy management
• Accurate clinical documentation and EMR proficiency
• Infection control and safety practices
• Clear oral and written communication and patient education skills
• Time management, multitasking and problem-solving in a fast-paced clinic
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
