Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to adults in the Step Down Unit
• Continuously monitor patients' cardiac rhythms and interpret telemetry data to detect changes
• Perform thorough assessments, initiate appropriate interventions, and escalate concerns promptly
• Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans in a clear, compassionate way
• Document nursing care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record to ensure continuity and safety
• Respond effectively to urgent situations and participate in unit-based quality and safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
• Experience working in a Step Down Unit, telemetry, or progressive care setting is preferred
• Comfort and competence with continuous cardiac monitoring and post-acute care needs
• Ability to work 12.5-hour shifts and adapt to unit scheduling needs

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and clinical decision-making skills
• Telemetry interpretation and cardiac rhythm recognition
• IV therapy, medication administration, and post-procedural monitoring
• Effective communication and teamwork in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Accurate clinical documentation and familiarity with electronic medical records
• Prioritization and time management during complex patient assignments
