Shift Type: Night, 3x12-hour (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM); rotating D/N possible with schedule reviewed every 4 weeks; weekend coverage varies based on unit needs

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate nursing care for PCU and Medical-Surgical patients, including those with oncology diagnoses
- Float between Oncology MS and PCU units as needed to meet patient care demands
- Perform timely patient assessments and manage acute changes in condition using telemetry monitoring
- Administer medications, blood products, and IV therapies following established protocols
- Manage central lines, PICC lines, and start/maintain peripheral IVs with competence
- Support respiratory care needs including HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP, tracheostomy care, and ABG interpretation
- Respond to rapid response and code situations and coordinate with Corrections Officers in a secure environment
- Document thoroughly in EPIC and use Pyxis for medication management
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—pharmacy, respiratory, PT, radiology, social services—to optimize patient outcomes
- Maintain isolation precautions and PPE practices to ensure patient and staff safety in a locked corrections unit
Qualifications
- Current RN license (valid in state of practice)
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (must meet experience requirements within the 3 most recent years) and at least 1 year of current specialty experience for clinical pass
- BLS required
- ACLS and NIHSS preferred
- Experience with telemetry, PCU, or Medical-Surgical settings strongly preferred
- Comfort and ability to work in a secure corrections environment with controlled access and working alongside Corrections Officers
- Ability to float between units and adapt to varying patient ratios (PCU 1:3; MS 1:4–5)
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline
Knowledge & Skills
- EPIC charting proficiency and experience with Pyxis medication system
- Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
- IV therapy, central line and PICC management, blood product administration
- IV insulin protocols and familiarity with heparin protocols
- High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), non-invasive ventilation (BiPAP/CPAP), and tracheostomy care
- Arterial blood gas (ABG) interpretation
- Feeding tube care and pre/post hemodialysis patient management
- Use of rapid response/code teams and strong emergency response skills
- Isolation precautions, PPE use, and working in a security-focused clinical setting
