Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality post-anesthesia nursing care to PACU patients, ensuring safe recovery from anesthesia
• Monitor and manage ventilated patients and perform ventilator monitoring with vigilance
• Perform NIH Stroke Scale assessments as indicated and escalate concerns to the care team
• Document patient care accurately and promptly in Cerner to support continuity and quality
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Maintain patient safety and comfort while working within the unit 1:2 patient ratio
• Participate in unit call rotation and support unit staffing needs, including float assignments

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure in the state of practice (required)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience as specified in the request
• Previous PACU experience preferred or equivalent peri-anesthesia experience
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS
• Experience with NIH Stroke Scale assessments
• Experience with ventilator monitoring and advanced respiratory support
• Familiarity with Cerner electronic documentation

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN, diploma, or BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong peri-anesthesia and PACU clinical knowledge
• Proficiency with ventilator monitoring and respiratory assessment
• Skilled in NIH Stroke Scale assessment and neurological monitoring
• Experience using Cerner for clinical documentation
• Ability to manage a 1:2 patient ratio and prioritize effectively
• Comfortable floating within peri-anesthesia areas and adapting to unit workflows
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in high-acuity settings
