Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality PCU and cardiac telemetry nursing care for adult patients, monitoring and responding to changes in condition
• Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and interpret dysrhythmias, initiating appropriate interventions
• Start and maintain IVs, administer medications and blood products safely, and follow heparin and titration protocols
• Use Epic for accurate, timely documentation and care coordination
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—Respiratory, PT, Pharmacy, Radiology, Social Work—to deliver comprehensive patient care
• Serve on Rapid Response/Code teams and participate in emergency interventions as needed
• Float to equivalent or lower-acuity units as needed, maintaining high standards of care across settings
• Support infection control practices and follow isolation precautions and facility vaccine guidelines

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of PCU/stepdown experience
• ACLS and BLS (BCLS) certifications required
• Proficiency with Epic electronic charting system required
• IV start proficiency and strong telemetry monitoring skills
• Teaching hospital experience required (prior exposure preferred)
• Willingness to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, weekends, holidays, and participate in on-call coverage
• Previous travel experience preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiac telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Management of dysrhythmias and titration of cardiac drips
• IV therapy, central line and PICC line care, and blood product administration
• Ventilated patient care basics, BiPAP/CPAP management, HFNC, and tracheostomy care
• Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Use of Rapid Response and Code teams
• Isolation precautions and PPE best practices
• Familiarity with heparin protocols, IV insulin and titration of insulin drips
