Shift Type: Rotating nights, 3x12-hour schedule (7:30 PM - 7:30 AM), Night shift; includes rotating weekends and holidays with every-other-weekend coverage (4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule). Float required to other OSU units as needed.

Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care across med-surg and telemetry populations
• Continuously monitor cardiac telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias to support timely interventions
• Administer medications and manage IV therapies including IV starts and phlebotomy
• Provide care for patients with feeding tubes, tracheostomies, chest tubes and high-flow nasal cannula
• Support pre/post hemodialysis and cardiac cath care, including management of heparin and insulin protocols
• Perform central line, PICC and peripheral line care and blood product administration when needed
• Document thoroughly and accurately in Epic to ensure continuity of care
• Participate effectively on Rapid Response and Code teams and collaborate with interdisciplinary partners

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of MedSurg experience required (per job posting)
• Epic charting experience required
• BLS certification required
• Demonstrated competency in IV starts and telemetry
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• Previous travel experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Ability to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity within the OSU organization

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Epic electronic charting and clinical documentation
• IV therapy, IV starts, phlebotomy, central line and PICC management
• Medication administration and familiarity with heparin and insulin protocols
• Respiratory support skills: high-flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula, oxygen therapy
• Feeding tube care and wound care including Wound Vac
• Tracheostomy care and chest tube management
• Pre/post hemodialysis and cardiac cath patient management
• Use of ergonomic equipment, EKG, bladder scanner and other unit-specific devices
• Strong teamwork, clinical judgment and rapid response participation
