Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered Med Surg nursing care during day shifts
• Assess patients, develop and implement nursing plans, and evaluate outcomes
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document accurately
• Coordinate care with interdisciplinary team members to ensure smooth transitions
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and discharge plans
• Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition in a timely manner
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and maintain unit standards
• Follow state vaccination requirements and facility policies to protect patients and staff

Qualifications

• Active RN credential with ability to practice in Maine (or ability to obtain state license)
• Previous Med Surg nursing experience (position seeks an experienced Med Surg RN)
• Comfort and competence working 12-hour day shifts and providing direct patient care
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain
• Influenza vaccination is required by the state of Maine; only medical exemptions accepted with approval
• Strong communication, assessment, and teamwork skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

• Solid Med Surg nursing knowledge and bed-to-bed patient care
• Patient assessment and clinical decision-making
• Medication administration and safe IV management
• Accurate documentation and electronic charting proficiency
• Time management and the ability to prioritize in a busy unit
• Collaborative teamwork and patient/family education
