Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform 12-lead EKGs and place heart monitors accurately and efficiently
• Obtain and document vital signs, height/weight, and pulse oximetry for adult and geriatric patients
• Prepare charts and assist with EPIC charting to keep provider workflows smooth
• Manage medication refill requests, pharmacy calls, and inbasket tasks in a timely manner
• Room patients, collect histories, and support telephone triage with clinical judgment
• Assist with scheduling, authorization forms, and insurance verification to facilitate patient care
• Make post-op and follow-up calls to support patient recovery and care continuity
• Support clinic flow and float between clinics within your skillset as needed

Qualifications

• BLS certification required
• MA-C preferred; MA-R or equivalent MA credential accepted
• Minimum: at least 6 months experience as a Medical Assistant; 1 year preferred (cardiology clinic/unit experience preferred but primary care experience will be considered)
• EPIC experience required (experience with outpatient clinic charting strongly preferred)
• Comfort performing EKG/ECG and heart monitor placement
• Reliable personal transportation required (public transit is not sufficient for this role)
• Ability to float between clinics and travel to satellite clinic locations as needed

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent training preferred
• Active MA credential (CMA, RMA, MA-C, or MA-R) and current BLS certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with EPIC charting system
• 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition and heart monitor placement
• Clinical skills: vital signs, pulse oximetry, height/weight
• Administrative skills: chart preparation, inbasket management, medication refills
• Patient communication: telephone triage, post-op follow-ups, rooming patients
• Insurance verification, authorization form processing, and scheduling
• Experience in adult outpatient clinic settings, ideally cardiology/electrophysiology
