Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct care to residents, supporting activities of daily living like bathing, dressing, and mobility
- Assist with safe transfers and repositioning to promote comfort and prevent injury
- Monitor and record vital signs and report any changes to the nursing team promptly
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care and observations
- Communicate clearly and kindly with residents and family members, ensuring dignity and respect
- Support infection control practices and maintain a clean, safe environment
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to deliver person-centered care
- Participate in shift handoffs and care plan discussions to ensure continuity
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification in Connecticut (required)
- Active CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Ability to work 8-hour shifts as scheduled
- Clear background check and required health screenings (e.g., TB clearance) as facility policy requires
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach to resident care
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Valid CNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on experience with basic clinical skills and resident assistance
- Comfortable with patient lifting, transfers, and mobility support techniques
- Effective charting and documentation habits
- Good time management and ability to prioritize resident needs
- Team-oriented mindset and clear communication with clinical staff
- Familiarity with infection prevention practices; EMR experience is a plus
