Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor telemetry and interpret cardiac rhythms to identify and respond to dysrhythmias quickly
• Manage and titrate IV drips and hemodynamic medications safely and according to protocols
• Perform thorough patient assessments every 4 hours and act on clinical changes promptly
• Provide progressive care to post-op and acute surgical patients, including pre/post cardiac cath care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and execute patient-centered care plans
• Educate patients and families about procedures, medications and recovery expectations with compassion
• Document care accurately in Meditech EMR to ensure continuity and clarity across shifts

Qualifications

• Active RN license (TX or compact) in good standing
• Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience (progressive care, PCU, stepdown or similar preferred)
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required; NIH stroke scale certification required
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and managing cardiac dysrhythmias
• Comfortable managing a variety of IV drips (heparin, amiodarone, vasoactives, etc.)
• Strong customer service, communication and teamwork skills

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; ADN or BSN accepted (BSN preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry interpretation and cardiac rhythm recognition
• IV drip and hemodynamic medication management
• Progressive Care/PCU clinical practices and patient ratios
• Meditech EMR proficiency (charting, documentation, orders)
• Ability to perform focused neurological and cardiac assessments
• Adaptability in a busy trauma/surgical environment and strong teamwork
