Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide focused post-anesthesia care to pediatric patients with compassion and clinical excellence
• Continuously monitor vital signs and patient status, intervening quickly when needed
• Collaborate closely with anesthesia, surgical teams, and pediatric specialists for smooth handoffs
• Administer medications and manage IV therapy safely and accurately
• Educate and support families during recovery, explaining care plans in a reassuring way
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress clearly and timely
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Current active RN license in Missouri or ability to obtain prior to start
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred or willingness to obtain
• Previous PACU or pediatric nursing experience preferred
• Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to respond to post-anesthesia events
• Comfort working in a fast-paced perioperative environment and working well on a team

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Pediatric assessment and age-appropriate communication
• Post-anesthesia monitoring and airway management fundamentals
• Medication administration and pain management for post-op patients
• IV therapy and perioperative nursing best practices
• Clear, compassionate family education and bedside manner
• Effective teamwork, time management, and documentation skills
