Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert perioperative nursing care in the Operating Room, maintaining patient safety and sterile technique throughout each case
• Scrub, circulate, or assist as the surgical team requires across a broad range of service lines (general, GYN, robotics, neuro, ortho, plastics, urology, burn, trauma)
• Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesia, and support staff to ensure smooth, efficient case flow
• Document perioperative care accurately and promptly using Cerner
• Anticipate surgeon needs and prepare instrumentation and supplies for diverse procedures
• Educate patients and families pre- and post-operatively with compassion and clarity
• Support unit staffing needs and float to other areas as required, contributing to a collaborative team environment

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state of practice) — your basic ticket to the OR
• Minimum 2 years of perioperative/operating room nursing experience (explicit requirement)
• Broad surgical experience across general surgery, GYN, robotics, neurosurgery, orthopedics, plastic surgery, urology, burn and trauma
• Experience documenting in Cerner (electronic health record experience preferred)
• Comfortable working variable schedules and participating in call rotations; willingness to float to other departments

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of perioperative standards, sterile technique, and infection control
• Familiarity with surgical instrumentation and procedure-specific workflows
• Ability to support robotic-assisted procedures and specialty surgeries
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in high-acuity environments
• Proficient with Cerner documentation and electronic charting practices
• Adaptability to variable schedules and changing case assignments
