Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (Day: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM; Night: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM). Schedule covers all days of the week with every-other-weekend and every-other-holiday requirements; unit typically staffs nights (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM) and may consider blocked scheduling. 12-hour orientation shifts (two shifts) at start.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality Med/Tele and PCU-level care to adults and geriatrics, managing patients with cardiac caths, EP studies, pacers and complex medical histories
• Read and interpret ECG strips and telemetry monitoring to identify and act on cardiac changes promptly
• Safely titrate IV drips (Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin, Nitro, Nipride, Lasix, low-dose Dopamine) and manage set-rate infusions according to orders and protocols
• Assess, plan and implement care for patients on BiPAP/CPAP/High Flow and trach care, troubleshooting respiratory equipment as needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including monitor/telemetry techs, respiratory therapists and charge nurses to maintain safe patient-to-nurse ratios
• Document accurately in Epic and participate in hand-offs, ensuring continuity and quality of care
• Float to other areas as needed (PCU, medical-surgical, ER holds) and support team needs during busy periods

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing (ND licensure or compact license where applicable)
• BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• Minimum ~2 years acute care nursing experience preferred (Med/Tele/PCU experience required)
• Strong telemetry and ECG strip interpretation skills
• Experience titrating drips and managing cardiac meds
• Comfortable with EPIC charting (preferred)
• Willingness to work rotating 12-hour shifts, every-other-weekend and occasional holiday coverage
• Ability to float to related units and handle variable assignments

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing required; BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and ECG strip interpretation
• Stepdown/PCU care and cardiac nursing fundamentals
• IV drip titration and safe infusion management
• Familiarity with pacemaker care and post-cardiac cath/EP patient needs
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP/High Flow devices and trach troubleshooting
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health record
• Strong assessment, prioritization and critical thinking skills in acute care settings
• Team communication, delegation and charge nurse collaboration
