Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care on a medical-surgical unit
• Assess patient conditions, monitor vital signs, and document changes accurately
• Administer medications and treatments safely according to policies
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
• Maintain accurate, timely charting and uphold infection control standards
• Support unit flow by prioritizing tasks and assisting colleagues during busy periods

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or compact RN licensure as allowed
• Experience in medical-surgical nursing or demonstrated competence in Med/Surg care
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; advanced certifications encouraged
• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and teamwork mindset
• Comfortable with electronic medical records and accurate documentation

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of Med/Surg nursing principles and patient assessment
• Medication administration and IV therapy proficiency
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work effectively in fast-paced settings
• Clear communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Attention to detail for safe documentation and adherence to protocols
