Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor maternal and fetal status, responding quickly to changes in condition
• Provide hands-on care in labor, delivery, postpartum and triage settings
• Circulate and assist during C-sections and support the OR team as needed
• Manage IV therapies and drips, including magnesium and other high-acuity medications
• Document patient care accurately in Meditech and maintain clear handoffs
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, neonatal teams and support staff for excellent patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families, offering compassionate support during labor and delivery
• Float within the women and children service line when needed to support unit needs

Qualifications

• Active RN license valid for Virginia
• Minimum 2 years experience in Labor & Delivery or related high-acuity OB settings
• Current BLS, ACLS and NRP certifications
• Familiarity with Meditech or similar electronic documentation systems
• Experience with IV therapy, circulating in C-sections, and high-acuity maternal care
• OR scrub or circulating experience and epidural/spinal familiarity are highly desirable
• Comfort working in a fast-paced L&D unit and collaborating across specialties

Knowledge & Skills

• Labor and delivery clinical management and triage
• C-section assistance and OR circulating skills
• IV placement and infusion management (including magnesium drips)
• Epidurals and spinals knowledge
• Meditech electronic documentation
• Level III NICU familiarity and working with high-acuity newborns
• Fetal heart rate monitoring knowledge and interpretation
• Strong communication, critical thinking and team collaboration
