Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and apply the nursing process to develop individualized plans of care
• Administer medications and treatments safely and in accordance with policies and standards
• Maintain accurate, thorough clinical documentation that supports continuity of care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate complex care, especially in a Level 1 Trauma Center setting
• Provide patient and family education tailored to individual needs and comprehension levels
• Participate in unit performance improvement, shared governance and peer review activities
• Use clinical expertise to support other units and help resolve systems issues affecting patient care
• Respond to telephone triage and maintain timely flow of patients in clinic/ambulatory settings when required

Qualifications

• Active IL RN licensure (IDFPR) at time of submission
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Minimum 3 years RN experience with at least 1 year of critical care experience
• Cardiovascular intervention and Interventional Radiology experience required
• Current BLS (CPR), ACLS and PALS certifications
• NIHSS certification required
• Successful completion of an EKG test prior to orientation

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (education verification required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and critical thinking in high acuity environments
• Clinical documentation and nursing process application
• Medication administration and advanced cardiac life support skills
• Experience with Interventional Radiology and cardiovascular interventions
• Telephone triage and patient education
• Performance improvement, evidence-based practice and shared governance
• Team collaboration and clear escalation of care when needed
