Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert perioperative nursing care for open-heart cases in the CVOR, ensuring patient safety and excellent clinical outcomes
- Prepare and maintain the sterile field and necessary equipment for cardiac surgeries
- Collaborate proactively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team to coordinate care
- Advocate for patients and families with compassionate communication and thorough education
- Respond to and manage intraoperative changes, following established protocols and escalation pathways
- Contribute to a positive team culture and support clinical performance improvements
Qualifications
- Current RN licensure required
- 3+ years of Operating Room experience required
- Cardiac Open-Heart experience is required
- CVOR experience highly valued
- BSN preferred; candidates who commit to obtaining BSN within three years of hire will be considered
Education
- BSN preferred; commitment to obtain BSN within 3 years accepted for experienced candidates
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of perioperative and sterile technique specific to cardiac surgery
- Proficiency in intraoperative monitoring and instrumentation for open-heart procedures
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and situational awareness in high-acuity settings
- Ability to function in a fast-paced OR, adapt to schedule changes, and respond on-call
