Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered care in the CVICU, monitoring complex cardiac patients
• Perform hemodynamic monitoring including Swan-Ganz and arterial line management
• Manage ventilators and support patients on advanced respiratory support
• Assess and respond quickly to changes in patient condition using strong critical thinking
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for post-CABG, post-VAD and post-cath care
• Document accurately in Meditech and ensure timely order entry and charting
• Follow unit policies including badge-in/out procedures and attendance expectations
• Participate in safe patient transitions and handoffs during rotating shifts

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license required — no temporary licenses accepted
• Minimum 2 years of ICU/CVICU experience (candidates without this will not be considered)
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• NIH training required (must be completed prior to start)
• Demonstrated critical care skills: hemodynamic monitoring, arterial lines, Swan-Ganz
• Experience with ventilator management and caring for post-op cardiac patients
• Comfortable floating to other units per Methodist Floating Policy

Knowledge & Skills

• Hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation (Swan-Ganz, arterial lines)
• Mechanical ventilation management and troubleshooting
• Meditech charting and electronic order entry
• Care of patients with IABP, Impella, ECMO and VADs
• CRRT exposure and familiarity with renal support in critical care
• Post-CABG and post-cardiac cath patient management
• Strong situational awareness, clinical judgment and teamwork skills
