Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and deliver compassionate care to geriatric psychiatric patients
• Monitor vital signs, perform bladder scans, and assist with blood draws and IV care as needed
• Respond quickly and effectively to rapid response and Code Blue situations
• Use critical thinking to develop safe, individualized care plans and communicate changes to the team
• Collaborate with behavioral health techs, sitters, and multidisciplinary staff to maintain a therapeutic environment
• De-escalate challenging situations using best-practice techniques while prioritizing patient and staff safety
• Document care accurately and efficiently in Cerner to support continuity and quality of care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license for North Carolina (or compact state equivalent)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; behavioral health and geriatric experience strongly preferred
• BLS certification (required)
• Demonstrated assessment skills, strong critical thinking, and teamwork
• Experience with Cerner EMR is a plus
• Ability to safely operate equipment such as Hoyer lifts and bladder scanners

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) and active RN licensure

Knowledge & Skills

• Behavioral health and geriatric psychiatric care knowledge
• Vital signs monitoring and clinical assessment skills
• IV therapy fundamentals and blood draw competency
• Familiarity with rapid response and Code Blue protocols
• De-escalation techniques and therapeutic communication
• Teamwork, compassion, and patient-centered care approach
• Comfort working nights and providing consistent weekend coverage
