Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide full-time occupational therapy services across outpatient and inpatient settings, delivering high-quality, patient-centered care
- Conduct home visits and village travel to assess needs and implement individualized treatment plans
- Collaborate closely with medical providers and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and improve outcomes
- Use evidence-based practice to develop, modify, and document patient plans of care
- Deliver ADL training and therapeutic exercise programs tailored to age- and patient-specific considerations
- Utilize available modalities and equipment (e.g., therapeutic exercise tools, ultrasound, electrical stimulation) as appropriate
- Compose clear, timely patient documentation and medical correspondence that meets clinical standards
- Demonstrate cultural competence and professional conduct while serving diverse populations in the Yukon-Kuskokwim region
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy program (required)
- Current NBCOT certification (required)
- Alaska OT license in good standing, or a good-standing OT license from another state with Alaska licensure pending
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Immunizations or titers as required (Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Varicella, MMR, Tdap, Polio) or acceptable historical records
- Background checks, national criminal checks, 10-panel drug screen within 90 days, and required credential documentation for onboarding
- Comfort and willingness to perform village travel and home visits; ability to work in varied facility environments (hospital, long-term care, village settings)
- No minimum clinical experience required (experience preferred)
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient documentation and strong clinical charting skills
- Evidence-based practice and treatment planning
- Excellent communication across interdisciplinary teams and with patients from diverse cultural backgrounds
- Cultural competence, especially working with Yup'ik and other local communities
- ADL training, therapeutic exercise, and outpatient/inpatient therapy techniques
- Familiarity with modalities such as ultrasound and electrical stimulation (where applicable)
- Resourcefulness in village-based settings—bringing portable tools like theraband and adaptable treatment plans
- Ability to read and apply occupational therapy literature and periodicals to clinical practice
