Roles & Responsibilities

• Greet and room patients, take accurate vital signs (height/weight, BP, temperature) and document clearly in the chart
• Prepare patients for exams and record histories, medications, and allergies with attention to detail
• Set up and assist with OB/GYN procedures including PAPs, colposcopy, LEEP, D&C, EMB, IUD insertions/removals, Nexplanon and NSTs
• Perform specimen collection and labeling for urine, vaginal swabs and other specimens, and prepare lab work as directed
• Perform venipuncture and blood/lab draws safely and efficiently
• Administer immunizations, injections, or oral meds per provider direction
• Clean and re-process instruments and exam rooms following departmental guidelines to keep patients safe
• Handle telephone triage, pharmacy refill requests and follow-up calls to support continuity of care

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant Diploma from a DAPIP-accredited program (required)
• Minimum 2 years working as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient clinic or medical office setting
• At least 1 year of experience in an OB/GYN clinical setting
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
• Proficiency in venipuncture and blood/lab draws
• HSD/GED required
• Flu vaccination required (no exemptions/declinations)
• Experience with insurance, referral processes and benefit plans
• CMA credential preferred

Education

• DAPIP-accredited Medical Assistant Diploma (required)
• HSD/GED (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on experience with PAPs, colposcopy, LEEP, D&C, endometrial biopsy, IUD and Nexplanon procedures
• Comfortable performing NSTs and assisting providers during OB/GYN visits
• Specimen collection, labeling and basic laboratory test knowledge
• Proficiency with Epic or similar EHR systems (preferred)
• Excellent patient communication, rooming and bedside manner
• Telephone triage, pharmacy call handling and follow-up workflows
• Strong infection control and equipment reprocessing practices
