Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain the sterile field for cardiovascular procedures with precision and focus
• Scrub and pass instruments across neonate through geriatric populations during CVOR cases
• Anticipate surgeon and team needs to keep cases running smoothly and safely
• Assist in setup, turnover, and breakdown of CVOR rooms to maximize efficiency
• Adhere to infection control practices and maintain patient confidentiality at all times
• Communicate clearly with surgeons, RNs, and perioperative team members to support excellent patient outcomes

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program (required)
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Surgical Technologist, with CVOR specialty experience required
• Current BCLS certification
• National certification by an approved body preferred (NBSTSA - CST or NCCT - TS-C)
• Ability to function independently within established protocols and handle on-call responsibilities

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program

Knowledge & Skills

• Surgical technology fundamentals and scrub technique in the operating room
• Perioperative care across neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
• Cardiovascular operating room procedures and specialty instrumentation
• Strong judgment, tact, diplomacy, and commitment to patient confidentiality
• Proficient computer and keyboarding skills for documentation and unit tasks
• Comfort working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
