Roles & Responsibilities

• Train and support EHR and ancillary clinical system users across outpatient and inpatient settings using classroom, one-on-one, remote shadowing and web conferencing
• Configure and optimize clinical content and decision support tools in partnership with medical staff
• Maintain and update clinical applications (labs, radiology, medications, immunizations, codes) to reflect best practices
• Triage user problems and coordinate resolution with Help Desk, IT staff, medical leadership and vendors
• Develop engaging training materials and deliver effective education for diverse audiences
• Continuously assess clinical processes and recommend improvements to align care across sites
• Collaborate with IT, vendors and clinical teams to ensure system reliability and usability
• Participate in implementations and provide hands-on support, including occasional extended hours to meet project goals

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska or another U.S. state required (Direct hire must have applied for Alaska license before start; agency staff must hold an active Alaska license)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a medical setting (clinical experience preferred)
• At least 2 years of experience working with clinical information systems
• At least 1 year of experience with computer technology (programming, installation, reporting, or hardware)
• BSN preferred; advanced degree may substitute for experience on a year-by-year basis
• Teaching or training experience preferred; inpatient clinical and accreditation experience are a plus
• Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time (by jet, small aircraft, and ferry)

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• BSN preferred
• Advanced degree(s) may substitute for minimum experience on a year-by-year basis

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of EHRs, clinical content management and clinical decision support systems
• Familiarity with HL7 messaging and integration with ancillary systems
• Experience with scheduling, radiology, laboratory and document scanning systems
• Comfort with clinical information and IT system concepts and workflows
• Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills for diverse audiences
• Solid problem-solving skills, sound judgment and the ability to prioritize effectively
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple sites
• Experience developing training materials and delivering engaging education
