Roles & Responsibilities

• Take accurate vital signs and report changes to the care team promptly
• Provide respectful, age-appropriate assistance with activities of daily living (feeding, bathing, dressing)
• Measure and document intake/output and observe for abnormal signs and symptoms
• Follow infection control practices and universal precautions to keep patients safe
• Support restorative care activities, including assistive device use and range-of-motion exercises
• Observe, document and communicate patient status and changes clearly to nurses and providers
• Work collaboratively with the treatment team to implement care plans
• Maintain patient dignity and respect while delivering compassionate personal care

Qualifications

• Current Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification or equivalent required
• At least 6 months of experience in a long-term care (LTC) facility — documented LTC experience required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Workers required (must be obtained within six months of employment if not current)
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand simple sentences in English and follow written/oral instructions
• Demonstrated knowledge of basic nursing skills: taking vitals, measuring output, recognizing abnormal signs
• Positive attitude, patience and tolerance for challenging behaviors
• Previous work experience in Hawaii is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Completion of an approved CNA training program and current CNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Taking vital signs and measuring intake/output

• Body mechanics and safe patient handling
• Restorative care principles and ADL assistance
• Basic medical and nursing terminology
• Strong oral and written communication and cultural awareness
