Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide on-site care at high school athletic events and after-school activities, ensuring athlete safety
• Prevent, evaluate, and manage athletic injuries through assessments, diagnoses, and individualized care plans
• Lead concussion evaluation and management, supervise return-to-play progression, and communicate clearance decisions
• Document evaluations and treatments clearly and accurately to support continuity of care
• Perform functional progress assessments, post-offer employment testing, and job-specific conditioning programs
• Coordinate event coverage schedules and collaborate with coaches, parents, and healthcare providers
• Support the orthopedic clinic as a physician extender by taking histories, scheduling procedures, and educating patients
• Analyze injury causes and recommend prevention strategies to reduce future risks

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, or Kinesiology required
• Current Athletic Trainer license for the state of Wisconsin required
• Board of Certification (BOC) credential for Athletic Trainers required
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Minimum 1 year of related work experience
• Exceptional attention to detail, strong interpersonal communication, and compassion

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, or Kinesiology

Knowledge & Skills

• Injury prevention and rehabilitation strategies
• Musculoskeletal examination and orthopedic assessment skills
• Concussion evaluation, symptom monitoring, and return-to-play protocols
• Emergency care and on-field acute injury management
• Experience with occupational health tasks including POETs, desk assessments, and FPNs
• Proficiency with computers and documentation systems
• Ability to perform functional assessments and post-offer employment testing
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to coordinate care with coaches, parents, and clinicians
