Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert post-operative cardiac and vascular progressive care for stepdown patients
• Continuously monitor telemetry and rapidly identify arrhythmias or concerning trends
• Titrate cardiac drips and vasoactive medications safely and per protocol
• Manage chest tubes, epidurals, tube feedings, and other common post-op devices
• Assess patients, develop and implement individualized nursing care plans, and document thoroughly in Cerner
• Collaborate with surgeons, cardiologists, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate high-quality care
• Educate patients and families on procedures, recovery expectations, and discharge planning
• Prioritize patient safety and contribute to a fast-paced, team-centered unit culture

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure in applicable state (or compact privilege where applicable)
• Minimum 2 years clinical nursing experience (experience in stepdown/PCU strongly preferred)
• Required: ACLS and BLS certifications
• Required: Stepdown and telemetry experience
• Experience with cardiac/vascular post-op care, cardiac medication titration, chest tube and epidural management preferred
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR preferred
• Able to work rotating schedules, weekends, and holidays as outlined

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Cardiac medication gtt management (phenylephrine, dobutamine, milrinone, amiodarone, etc.)
• Post-operative cardiac and vascular patient management
• Chest tube and epidural care
• Enteral tube feeding management and IV infusion devices including glucommander
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and effective communication
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
