Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate post-operative orthopedic nursing care to adult patients, ensuring safety and comfort through recovery
• Perform wound care tasks including dressing changes and suture/staple removal with attention to infection prevention
• Manage and monitor Foley catheters and NG tubes safely and per protocol
• Maintain and troubleshoot Wound VAC devices and assist with removals when appropriate
• Mobilize patients and support mobility plans using lifts and assistive devices to promote recovery and prevent complications
• Document accurate and timely patient information in Cerner EMR to support continuity of care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members—PT/OT, physicians, PCTs and nursing leadership—to deliver coordinated care
• Adapt to a fast-paced unit and support a team-focused environment while delivering family-like care

Qualifications

• Active NC Registered Nurse license (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience (as listed)
• Orthopedic nursing experience preferred
• Hospital/Med-Surg experience preferred
• Comfortable using Cerner EMR and common orthopedic equipment
• Willingness to work night shifts and cover every other weekend

Knowledge & Skills

• Orthopedic nursing and post-operative care
• Wound care and Wound VAC maintenance
• Dressing changes; suture and staple removal
• Foley catheter and NG tube management
• Patient mobilization techniques and safe lift usage (Sara Stedy, Maxi Move, etc.)
• Familiarity with Cerner electronic medical records
• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, team-oriented environments
