Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, expert emergency nursing care using the nursing process to assess, plan, intervene and evaluate
• Administer medications and treatments safely and in accordance with policies and the state practice act
• Document care thoroughly and accurately to support continuity and quality
• Develop and execute individualized patient care plans in partnership with physicians and the interdisciplinary team
• Collaborate with colleagues across departments to support the patient’s longitudinal plan of care
• Use critical thinking to identify safety concerns and escalate appropriately
• Participate in unit performance improvement, shared governance, and peer review activities
• Educate patients and families to support recovery and safe transitions of care

Qualifications

• Active IL RN licensure required
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required
• NIHSS certification required
• Either TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) or TNS required
• Experienced ER RN — comfortable in a fast-paced emergency environment
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (education verification required)

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (education verification required)

• Strong command of the nursing process and patient assessment
• Medication administration and safe practice knowledge
• Clear, accurate clinical documentation skills
• Care planning and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Critical thinking under pressure and patient-safety focus
• Experience with performance improvement and quality initiatives
