Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate hands-on care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living
- Monitor and document resident condition, reporting changes to nursing staff promptly
- Support safe mobility and fall-prevention practices to keep residents secure
- Assist with feeding, bathing, grooming, and toileting in a respectful manner
- Collaborate with the care team to follow individualized care plans
- Maintain a clean, comfortable environment and follow infection control protocols
- Build trusting relationships with residents and their families through attentive care
Qualifications
- GNA certification (required)
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required per facility policy
- Active eligibility to work in Maryland and any state-required registry/compliance
- Ability to pass background check, TB screening, and required immunizations
- Reliable, compassionate, and able to communicate clearly with residents and team members
- Comfortable with physical aspects of care such as lifting and transferring residents (assistive devices provided)
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited Geriatric Nursing Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on geriatric care and activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Basic vital signs monitoring and documentation
- Familiarity with infection control and safety procedures
- Strong observational skills and timely reporting
- Teamwork and clear communication in a healthcare setting
- Person-centered approach to elder care and dignity-preserving techniques
