Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate hands-on care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living
• Monitor and document resident condition, reporting changes to nursing staff promptly
• Support safe mobility and fall-prevention practices to keep residents secure
• Assist with feeding, bathing, grooming, and toileting in a respectful manner
• Collaborate with the care team to follow individualized care plans
• Maintain a clean, comfortable environment and follow infection control protocols
• Build trusting relationships with residents and their families through attentive care

Qualifications

• GNA certification (required)
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required per facility policy
• Active eligibility to work in Maryland and any state-required registry/compliance
• Ability to pass background check, TB screening, and required immunizations
• Reliable, compassionate, and able to communicate clearly with residents and team members
• Comfortable with physical aspects of care such as lifting and transferring residents (assistive devices provided)

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an accredited Geriatric Nursing Assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on geriatric care and activities of daily living (ADLs)
• Basic vital signs monitoring and documentation
• Familiarity with infection control and safety procedures
• Strong observational skills and timely reporting
• Teamwork and clear communication in a healthcare setting
• Person-centered approach to elder care and dignity-preserving techniques
