Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage progressive care/telemetry patients, interpreting EKG data and responding quickly to changes
• Document assessments, interventions and care plans clearly in Epic
• Provide ACLS/BLS level interventions as needed and escalate per NIH Stroke Scale guidelines
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate safe, timely patient care
• Maintain patient ratios (typically 1:4–1:5) and prioritize care effectively during busy shifts
• Float within scope to like units when needed to support facility operations
• Support a positive patient experience while upholding hospital policies and quality standards
• Participate in scheduled weekends and holiday coverage as required

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license (pending licenses are not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (first-time travel nurses are welcome)
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Must pass the facility EKG exam — no exceptions
• Comfortable and experienced with night-shift nursing and telemetry/PCU patient care
• Experience with Epic charting preferred or required

Knowledge & Skills

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing and telemetry patient management
• Telemetry/EKG monitoring and rhythm recognition
• Proficient Epic documentation and electronic chart workflows
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and manage 1:4–1:5 patient ratios
• Strong assessment, critical thinking and prioritization skills
• Team communication, interdisciplinary coordination and patient advocacy
• Flexibility to float to like units as facility needs dictate
