Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor behavioral health patients, identifying changes in status and care needs
• Develop and implement individualized care plans focused on safety and recovery
• Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation to maintain a therapeutic environment
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Document thoroughly and professionally in EPIC to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, families, and community resources
• Maintain unit safety, enforce protocols, and promote a therapeutic milieu
• Participate in competency testing and ongoing skills development to keep practice current

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) credential
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience
• Minimum 6 months of experience on a behavioral health unit
• DCI/BVP certification (listed required certification)
• Completion of Prime Core Competencies Exam, Prime Skills Checklist, and Prime Specialty Exam as required
• Up-to-date immunizations and screening: COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, TB test, Varicella, Tdap, Hepatitis B, influenza; fit test and drug screening as required

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven behavioral health assessment and crisis management skills
• Therapeutic communication and de-escalation techniques
• Strong documentation skills and comfort using EPIC
• Medication administration and safe nursing practice in behavioral health settings
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts and maintain patient and staff safety
• Team collaboration, clinical judgment, and patient-centered care focus
