Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to adults on the behavioral health unit
• Perform thorough psychiatric and medical assessments and develop individualized care plans
• Administer medications safely and monitor patients for therapeutic outcomes and side effects
• Use de-escalation and crisis-intervention techniques to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff
• Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary team members including psychiatrists, social workers, and therapists
• Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses clearly and timely
• Support discharge planning by communicating with team members and community resources
• Maintain compliance with credentialing, immunization and health screening requirements to remain active on assignment

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Registered Nurse) with verification (Nursys noted in onboarding)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required prior to start
• ACLS, PALS, NRP may be required depending on the unit — be prepared to provide these if requested
• Per diem clinicians must be available to work on August 12, 2025 to qualify
• Willingness to commit to a 26-week per diem assignment and complete full credentialing as required
• Ability to pass health screening, fit test, drug screen (minimum 10-panel), and required immunizations or completed declination forms
• Strong clinical judgment, therapeutic communication, and ability to work effectively in de-escalation situations

Education

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; graduation from an accredited nursing program preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Behavioral health nursing best practices and therapeutic communication
• Crisis intervention and patient de-escalation techniques
• Medication administration and monitoring in psychiatric populations
• Thorough documentation and use of unit care plans
• Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and participate in discharge planning
• Understanding of compliance requirements: immunizations, TB testing, fit testing, background/health screenings
• Comfort working 12-hour day shifts in a busy behavioral health environment
