Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate nursing care to patients on the Behavioral Medicine Unit, prioritizing safety and dignity
• Assess and monitor psychiatric and medical status, intervening quickly when concerns arise
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Document care accurately and efficiently in EPIC to maintain continuity and quality of care
• Support therapeutic interventions and de-escalation techniques to promote positive patient outcomes
• Complete required competency checks and specialty exams to maintain clinical readiness

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience
• Minimum 6 months experience in a Behavioral Health unit
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record
• DCI/BVP certification (listed as required)
• Willingness to complete Prime Core Competencies Exam, Prime Skills Checklist, and Prime Specialty Exam
• Current required health screenings and immunizations (drug screen, TB/PPD/chest x-ray as applicable, COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hep B, Varicella, Tdap, flu, fit test)

Knowledge & Skills

• Comfortable working 12-hour shifts in a behavioral health setting
• Strong assessment and clinical observation skills for psychiatric and medical needs
• Familiarity with EPIC documentation and electronic charting workflows
• Ability to implement safety protocols and participate in de-escalation strategies
• Clear communication and teamwork within a multidisciplinary care team
• Detail-oriented approach to completing required competency exams and screenings
