Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based behavioral health nursing to adults in a therapeutic setting
- Perform thorough patient assessments and develop individualized nursing care plans
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate treatment and ensure continuity of care
- Use de-escalation techniques and CPI strategies to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff
- Administer medications accurately and monitor patient responses, including pharmacology checks
- Document care clearly and timely in the electronic health record
- Educate patients and families about treatment plans, coping strategies, and available resources
- Participate in unit meetings, training, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance care delivery
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Nursys verification expected)
- Clinical experience in behavioral health or psychiatric nursing preferred
- Current BLS certification required
- CPI and DCI/BVP training or willingness to complete prior to or upon start
- Completion of required onboarding screenings: drug screen, TB testing, fit test, and immunizations as listed
- Ability to pass Prime skills and competency exams as part of facility requirements
- Strong communication, assessment, and crisis intervention skills
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required, BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid knowledge of behavioral health nursing principles and therapeutic modalities
- Proficiency in de-escalation and crisis management techniques
- Medication administration and basic pharmacology for psychiatric meds
- Skilled in nursing assessment, documentation, and care planning
- Familiarity with electronic health records and clinical reporting
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and adapt to changing patient needs
