Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to individuals in a correctional behavioral health setting
- Monitor and document patient behavior, symptoms, and progress accurately and timely
- Assist with therapeutic activities and support treatment plans under clinical direction
- Use de-escalation and crisis-intervention techniques to maintain a safe environment
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary care team to coordinate patient care
- Maintain clear, professional communication and thorough clinical documentation
Qualifications
- Valid Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) credential required
- Available and able to work Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
- Willingness to complete the two-week training period at the start of assignment
- Professional, calm approach to working in a correctional healthcare environment
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an approved psychiatric technician program and LPT licensure
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of behavioral health practices and psychiatric care basics
- Skilled in observation, documentation, and reporting of clinical changes
- Comfortable with crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
- Strong communication and teamwork skills for working with clinical staff
- Ability to follow care plans and safety protocols consistently
