Roles & Responsibilities

• Sterilize, inspect, assemble, and prepare surgical instrument sets and trays to ensure every case is ready and safe
• Operate and monitor washers and sterilizers, including routine biological and chemical indicator testing
• Perform flexible endoscope reprocessing and high-level disinfection with meticulous attention to protocols
• Process robotic and specialty surgical instruments (Da Vinci Si/SP/Xi) and support robotics cases
• Use Sterile Processing Microsystem (SPM) to document equipment, track sets, and maintain accuracy
• Prepare case carts and loaner trays, maintain preference cards, and coordinate with OR teams
• Follow decontamination and disinfection procedures, ultrasonic cleaning, and manual cleaning standards
• Collaborate with perioperative teams and chart procedures in Epic when required to support safe patient care

Qualifications

• Minimum 1+ year of sterile processing experience (travel experience required)
• Certifications preferred: CBSPD, IAHCSMM or HSPA (encouraged and supported)
• Experience with Sterile Processing Microsystem (SPM) and robotic instrument processing preferred
• Knowledge of flexible endoscope reprocessing, HLD, IUSS, and steam sterilization monitoring
• Comfortable working night block schedules (Friday-Tuesday) and supporting a short-term acute care setting
• Epic charting experience preferred and strong documentation skills
• Trauma Level I experience preferred; ability to work collaboratively in fast-paced OR environments

Knowledge & Skills

• Instrument sterilization and tray/set assembly
• Steam sterilization testing and monitoring (biological & chemical indicators)
• Immediate-use steam sterilization (IUSS) and Steris/Sterrad testing knowledge
• Flexible endoscope reprocessing and fiber optics care
• Use of washers, sterilizers, ultrasonic cleaners and manual cleaning techniques
• Case cart preparation, preference cards, loaner tray handling and organization
• Robotic surgical instrument processing and familiarity with Da Vinci systems
• Experience with Sterile Processing Microsystem (SPM) and charting in Epic
