Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage mechanical ventilation for adult critical care patients, including initiation, adjustment, and safe weaning from ventilators
• Perform advanced airway management and tracheostomy care, including suctioning and airway device placement
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) to guide respiratory interventions and medication choices
• Administer and monitor respiratory medications and aerosol therapies safely and accurately
• Operate and troubleshoot ventilators and respiratory equipment, including GE and preferred Hamilton ventilators
• Respond to and troubleshoot high-pressure alarms and acute airway/ventilation events with calm, evidence-based actions
• Provide high-quality pulmonary hygiene, sputum collection, and noninvasive ventilation support such as BiPAP and CPAP
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and document patient-centered respiratory care plans
• Float between campuses as needed to support patient care and unit staffing

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience in acute care or critical care settings
• High School Diploma plus College diploma and/or transcripts required
• Ohio state respiratory therapist license required or eligibility to obtain
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred; CRT considered
• ACLS and BLS certifications preferred
• Current flu vaccination required per facility guideline (medical exemptions only)
• Comfort with night shifts and weekend coverage, and willingness to float between campuses

Education

• High School Diploma required
• College diploma and/or transcripts required
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field preferred
• RRT credential preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong ventilator management skills including initiation, monitoring, and weaning
• Proficiency with airway management techniques, suctioning, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), BiPAP, and CPAP therapies
• Ability to troubleshoot high-pressure alarms and other ventilator issues quickly
• Familiarity with medication delivery systems: MDI, nebulizers, trach collar, T-piece
• Skilled in interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs) to guide therapy
• Comfortable with GE ventilators; Hamilton ventilator experience is a plus
• Strong clinical judgment, documentation skills, and teamwork in fast-paced critical care environments
