Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care and therapeutic interventions to patients of all ages
• Perform arterial blood gas collection and analysis per protocols
• Manage and troubleshoot mechanical ventilators and other respiratory equipment
• Assess respiratory status, develop treatment plans, and document care in the medical record
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions and home-care techniques
• Maintain competency through required exams, specialty checklists, and ongoing training

Qualifications

• Active Respiratory Therapy licensure/certification (verification required)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certificate required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certificate required
• Blood Gas Technologist Certificate required
• Completion of required competency exams and specialty checklists
• Compliance with health requirements: COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, TB testing, Hepatitis B, Influenza vaccine, Tdap, varicella, fit test, and drug screening

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in ventilator management and weaning protocols
• Proficient in arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling and interpretation
• Strong airway management and suctioning techniques
• Ability to assess and monitor patient respiratory status and response to therapy
• Clear clinical documentation and familiarity with electronic health records
• Teamwork, communication, and patient/family education skills
