Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert PICU nursing care for critically ill pediatric patients, including ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring
• Perform skilled procedures such as IV starts, central line dressing changes, caths, and support for lumbar punctures
• Manage tracheostomy care, tube feeding placement, and ICP monitoring when indicated
• Document patient care accurately in Cerner and safely administer medications using Alaris pumps
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized patient care plans
• Support unit staffing needs and float to Pediatrics and NICU as required while maintaining high-quality care
• Maintain patient- and family-centered communication to enhance the overall patient experience

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in an appropriate U.S. state
• PALS certification required (stated as a must-have)
• Minimum 1 year of PICU experience (unit requests 1 year PICU experience)
• Experience with ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, central line care, and trach care
• Comfortable using Cerner documentation system and Alaris infusion pumps
• Willingness to work rotating nights and scheduled weekends per unit staffing

Education

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and respiratory support for pediatric patients
• Hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation of invasive lines
• Central line dressing changes and central line care
• ICP monitoring and neuro-focused critical care skills
• IV starts, urinary/other caths, and procedural assistance
• Tracheostomy care, tube feeding placement, and enteral management
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR and Alaris infusion pump systems
• Ability to function in 1:1 to 1:2 PICU patient ratios and high-acuity environments
