Shift Type: Night shift, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM; nights only. Schedule includes every other weekend and every other holiday. Expect periodic floating to other ICU units as census requires. Example coverage pattern referenced in the job: Fri 7:00 PM - Mon 7:00 AM when applicable.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity ICU nursing care for open heart and neuro post-operative patients with precision and compassion
• Manage and monitor CRRT therapy safely and effectively for critically ill patients
• Perform thorough neurological assessments and use NIHSS when appropriate to track stroke care
• Deliver post-operative cardiac care including CABG patient management and recovery monitoring
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Epic to ensure continuity and compliance
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, RTs, and therapists to optimize patient outcomes
• Respond promptly to emergencies and implement ACLS/BLS protocols as required
• Support unit throughput and staffing by floating to other ICU areas when census demands

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license with Nursys verification required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification required
• DCI/BVP certification listed as required
• Demonstrated ICU experience with open heart and neuro patient populations
• Experience and comfort with CRRT therapy in a high-acuity setting
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health record required
• Ability to work nights, every other weekend, and every other holiday as scheduled
• Successful completion of required pre-employment screenings: drug screen, TB testing, immunizations including COVID-19, MMR, Hep B, Varicella, Tdap, and fit testing

Education

• Active RN license (Nursys verification required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong critical care assessment and hemodynamic monitoring skills
• Hands-on CRRT operation and troubleshooting knowledge
• Post-operative cardiac nursing including CABG care
• Neurological assessment skills including stroke recognition and NIHSS scoring
• Proficiency documenting and navigating Epic
• Ability to function in a fast-paced, high-acuity ICU environment
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills for coordinated patient care
• Familiarity with Prime competency testing and hospital-specific skills checklists
