Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform a full range of interventional radiology procedures including angiography, angioplasty, stenting, embolization, TIPS, Y90/TACE and vascular access procedures
- Execute percutaneous procedures: needle biopsies, drainages, nephrostomy/ureteral stent placements, gastrostomy tube insertions and related interventions
- Provide reliable on-call emergency coverage weekday evenings and 24-hour weekend coverage, responding for urgent procedures as needed
- Document patient encounters, procedures and follow-up in Epic EMR accurately and timely
- Collaborate with referring providers, anesthesia, nursing and the multidisciplinary care team to optimize patient outcomes
- Maintain procedural competence, adhere to quality and safety protocols, and participate in department performance improvement activities
- Complete required credentialing and enrollment paperwork and maintain licenses and certifications
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree
- Board certified or board eligible in Diagnostic Radiology / Interventional Radiology (IR fellowship completed preferred)
- Active, or ability to obtain, North Dakota medical license (ND license required prior to start)
- Demonstrated experience in general interventional radiology procedures; stroke thrombectomy/neurointerventional experience preferred but not required
- Current BLS and ACLS (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
- Locum tenens or prior on-call/holiday coverage experience preferred
- Ability to complete credentialing paperwork within the stated timeframe (60–90 days)
Education
- MD or DO
- Completion of an accredited Interventional Radiology fellowship or equivalent training
- Board certification or eligibility in Radiology/Interventional Radiology
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency with Epic EMR for documentation and order entry
- Strong technical skills in image-guided interventions and vascular procedures
- Comfort managing procedural sedation, urgent/emergent cases and critical decision-making
- Familiarity with TIPS, IVC filters, port placements, nephrostomy and complex drainages
- Excellent communication skills with patients, families and multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to work independently in a community hospital setting and adapt to variable case volumes
