Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert inpatient oncology care for BMT and hematology patients, including pre- and post-transplant management
• Perform telemetry monitoring and interpret dysrhythmias to keep patients safe
• Administer and manage blood products following unit protocols
• Care for central lines, PICC lines, and perform central line blood draws accurately and safely
• Manage feeding tubes and provide related patient education and care
• Activate and participate in rapid response teams when a patient’s condition changes
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including pharmacy, respiratory, PT, social work, and radiology to coordinate care
• Follow strict infection prevention protocols and isolation precautions for immunocompromised patients
• Document care using EPIC and maintain clear, timely charting

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years clinical nursing experience; at least 1 year of MS and oncology experience within the last 3 years required for screening
• Travel nurse experience preferred; first-time travelers will be screened
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy Certification preferred but not required
• EPIC experience required for computerized charting
• Experience with telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and blood product administration
• Comfort with central line/PICC care and feeding tube management

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing and hematology/BMT patient care
• Medical-surgical and telemetry (MS/Tele) skills
• Telemetry monitoring systems and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Blood product administration and transfusion safety
• Central line, PICC, and peripheral line care and management
• Experience with CAR-T therapy and various transplant types (autologous, syngeneic, allogeneic)
• Use of EPIC for documentation and charting
• Infection prevention, isolation precautions, and PPE best practices
