Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert scrub and circulator support in the CVOR suite, maintaining sterile technique throughout procedures
• Assist with cardiothoracic and vascular cases including CABG, valve repairs/replacements, TAVR, TEVAR, and robotic thoracic surgery
• Set up and manage surgical instrumentation, implants, and specialty equipment including Intuitive SI robotics
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia, and perfusion teams to promote safe, efficient patient care
• Accurately document case details and perioperative care in Epic and manage supplies via Pyxis
• Respond to call assignments and support weekend coverage as scheduled
• Adhere to infection control and aseptic technique standards to ensure patient safety
• Participate in orientation and ongoing competency development to maintain CVOR expertise

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of CVOR experience required
• BCLS required
• Scrub and Circulator experience required (able to function in both roles)
• CNOR and/or CST preferred
• Experience with Epic charting and Pyxis medication/supply systems preferred
• Comfortable with cardiothoracic and vascular procedures, including robotic assistance
• Travel assignment experience required; unit will accept first-time travelers
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline
• Willingness to participate in call rotation (approx. 10 days/month) and one weekend/month

Knowledge & Skills

• Aseptic technique and sterile field management
• Cardiothoracic and vascular surgical procedures (CABG, valve surgery, TAVR, TEVAR, carotid endarterectomy, etc.)
• Robotic surgery systems — Intuitive SI robotics experience preferred
• Perioperative equipment familiarity including IABP management and VAD awareness
• Proficiency with Epic electronic charting and Pyxis medication/supply workflows
• Strong communication using SBAR and teamwork in high-acuity OR settings
• Ability to handle adult and geriatric patient populations across complex cases
