Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) with dignity and respect
- Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and equipment
- Monitor and report changes in residents’ condition to the nursing team promptly
- Provide compassionate companionship and emotional support to residents and families
- Document care accurately and thoroughly in resident records
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for all residents
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to deliver resident-focused care
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification or state-equivalent nursing assistant credential (Maryland preferred)
- CPR/BLS certification required or willing to obtain
- Background check and up-to-date immunizations as required by facility
- Comfortable working with geriatric populations, including dementia care
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Previous experience in long-term care or assisted living is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of an accredited GNA/CNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic nursing assistant duties and resident care principles
- Skilled in safe patient handling and infection prevention practices
- Ability to observe, record, and communicate resident changes clearly
- Compassionate interpersonal skills and patience with older adults
- Basic charting and documentation skills
- Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
