Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled occupational therapy evaluations to identify patient strengths and needs
- Design and implement individualized treatment plans that improve independence in ADLs
- Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions and adaptive equipment training
- Collaborate closely with physical therapists, nurses, physicians and case managers
- Document patient progress, outcomes and discharge plans clearly and on time
- Educate patients and families to support carry-over of therapy goals at home
- Participate in team meetings to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes
- Maintain compliance with facility policies, regulatory requirements and best practices
Qualifications
- Licensed Occupational Therapist in Michigan or eligible to obtain license prior to start
- NBCOT certification preferred or in progress
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (facility may require upon hire)
- Strong clinical assessment and treatment planning skills in rehabilitation settings
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills with patients, families and staff
- Comfortable working a full contract assignment (5 days per week) in a busy rehab facility
Education
- Degree in Occupational Therapy (Bachelor’s, Master’s or OTD) from an accredited program
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in ADL/IADL assessment and adaptive equipment recommendations
- Experience with therapeutic modalities, splinting, and functional task training
- Skilled documentation and progress tracking using facility EMR systems
- Ability to develop measurable treatment goals and evaluate outcomes
- Strong patient education, coaching and family-centered care approach
- Time management and caseload prioritization in a fast-paced rehab environment
