Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare and set up diagnostic sleep studies, ensuring equipment is calibrated and ready for accurate data collection
- Perform polysomnogram (PSG) and home sleep study scoring with precision to support clinical decision-making
- Conduct CPAP/BiPAP titration and troubleshoot positive airway pressure-related issues to optimize patient therapy
- Apply electrodes and sensors following published standards and monitor signal quality throughout studies
- Collect, analyze, and integrate patient information to tailor testing and support individualized care
- Explain procedures, orient patients, and provide clear patient education to enhance compliance and comfort
- Document study observations, sleep stages, clinical events, and any changes to procedures to support interpretation
- Coordinate home sleep study logistics, including setup and scoring of portable devices
Qualifications
- Required: RPSGT and/or RCP certification
- Required: California state license
- Required: BLS (AHA or ARC)
- Flu vaccination required (no declination or exemption accepted)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience with PSG and home sleep study (HSAT) scoring
- Charge experience required
- Comfortable with a 1:2 patient ratio on night shifts
- First-time travel clinicians welcome
- Preferred: EEG certification, RRT and/or SDS experience
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong PSG and HSAT scoring skills and familiarity with staging and respiratory events
- Experience with CPAP/BiPAP/ASV titration and mask fitting (full face, nasal, nasal pillow)
- Familiarity with equipment: Alice, ResMed, Respironics and portable/home devices
- Competence in electrode/sensor application, equipment calibration, and artifact identification/correction
- Monitoring skills including O2 saturation, EEG and respiratory inductance plethysmography (RIP)
- Patient education, infection control, and clear clinical documentation
- Comfort working in hospital and independent lab settings
